SUSTech Delegation Visits King’s College London to Strengthen International Education Collaboration and Innovation
From October 26 to 29, SUSTech Party Secretary Jiang Hong led a delegation to visit King’s College London, aiming to strengthen international education partnerships, promote academic exchange and innovation, and explore future development strategies. The delegation included Wang Songling, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dean of SUSTech-King’s College London Joint Medical School (SKMed); Thérèse Hesketh, Executive Dean of SKMed; and Zhang Jian, Vice Dean of SKMed, among other key leaders.
During a meeting with King’s College London President Shitij Kapur, SUSTech Party Secretary Jiang Hong noted that President Kapur’s visit to SUSTech in September marked a significant milestone as both leaders witnessed the inauguration ceremony for the first cohort of the SUSTech-King’s College London Joint Medical School (SKMed). This event ushered in a new chapter of collaboration between the two universities.
Jiang Hong highlighted that SKMed serves as a model of joint educational endeavors, combining the academic strengths and advanced facilities of both institutions to create a robust platform for faculty and student development. She expressed the hope for strengthening the comprehensive partnership between the two universities, with deeper cooperation in fields such as business, physics, chemistry, healthcare, and hospital management. Such efforts would enrich educational offerings and promote interdisciplinary innovation and integration.
The delegation also held discussions with representatives from King’s College London’s Dental Institute and the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. These talks focused on collaborative opportunities for students in dentistry, biomedical sciences, and biomedical engineering to pursue doctoral programs. Both parties expressed their commitment to advancing partnerships in medicine and dentistry.During the visit, the delegation toured King’s College London’s School of Medicine, Healthcare Engineering Institute, Dental Simulation Laboratories, and Pathology Museum, gaining in-depth insights into the university’s medical education system.
This visit not only strengthened the bond between SUSTech and one of Europe’s leading universities but also laid a solid foundation for the university’s advancement in international education. Looking ahead, SUSTech remains committed to its philosophy of openness and collaboration, actively seeking opportunities to partner with world-class institutions.
