As the dean of the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech)-King’s College London (King's) School of Medicine , I would like to express my gratitude to you on behalf of all faculty members. Thank you for giving attention and support to the joint programmes launched by the SUSTech-King's School of Medicine. As you are full of passion and ideas, eager for exploration and striving for excellence, we expect that you can pursue your learning at the SUSTech-King's School of Medicine.

As a first-class university with first-class disciplines, SUSTech develops vigorously with an enterprising spirit. We actively explore the ways of achieving new integration in medical education through our in-depth cooperation with internationally prestigious universities, in a bid to advance the leapfrog development of biomedical disciplines and majors. Driven by such a vision, SUSTech and King’s conduct sincere cooperation with the full support from the Ministry of Education and departments concerned of the Shenzhen Municipality. In November, 2021, the establishment of the Southern University of Science and Technology-King’s College London School of Medicine was approved with the written consent of the Ministry of Education.

The teaching and learning at the SUSTech-King's School of Medicine meet the standards of education in both China and UK. The students will be registered as students of both SUSTech and King’s, and upon graduation they will be conferred with diplomas of both universities without going abroad, and their academic qualifications will be recognized in both China and UK. At the early development stage of the SUSTech-King's School of Medicine, we will provide two programmes: Biomedical Science and Biomedical Engineering. Following the smooth running of these programmes, we will take it as a priority in our next-step development to enrich overseas exchange programmes for students, develop diverse practice programmes, and promote still further collaboration in the field of graduate programmes. All these plans are under careful consideration.

Through channelling world-class biomedical education resources into the SUSTech-King's School of Medicine, we would carry out the following missions: exploring to establish a biomedical personnel training system that is in line with international standards, supporting students to receive internationalized and high-quality biomedical education, improving the international competitiveness of students, training excellent biomedical personnel for Greater Bay Area who have global awareness, quality of humanistic care, knowledge about international rules and a thorough understanding about Chinese and British cultures, helping the development of an education and medical care hub in the Greater Bay Area, and serving the local economic and social development, communication between China and other countries in education and people-to-people exchanges.  

The SUSTech-King's School of Medicine will do its best to provide you who cherish dreams with powerful support and guarantee necessary for starting a biomedical career in the new era. Our programmes have been developed jointly by SUSTech and King’s and draw on the experience and expertise of both institutions.  The programmes offer students a unique opportunity in being able to obtain two degree awards, with teaching delivered by academic staff who are at the forefront of life science and biomedical research.
