Biomedical Science
The Biomedical Science programme is a joint programme leading to double degree awards from SUSTech and King's which merges the disciplines of medicine and biology to deeply investigate the fundamental mechanisms and therapeutic strategies of diseases. This joint curriculum not only combines the strengths of both institutions but also aligns with the current development of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
The programme includes a comprehensive suite of fundamental biological and medicine-relate modules,enriched by King's specialised Genetics modules and bespoke pharmaceutical courses tailored for biomedicine industry aspirants. Beyond theoretical teachings, this course places a strong emphasis on practical and experimental learning, complemented by clinical modules that broaden students' clinical perspectives and aptitude in identifying clinical challenges.

Teaching and Assessment
You will be taught through a combination of lectures and small group teaching (tutorials, problem solving workshops), laboratory-based practicals and project work under the direction of a supervisor. Face to face teaching will be complemented and supported with innovative technology so that you also experience elements of digital learning and assessment.
The programme is divided into modules. You will be required to pass all modules to be awarded a degree from both King's and SUSTech. However, there are modules required by the Chinese educational system which, while they must be passed, will not count towards the award of the Kings degree.
Before the start of the second academic year, students must achieve an overall IELTS score of 6.5 or above, with no individual component score below 6.0 (or equivalent scores in other English proficiency tests).
