The Senior Vice-President of King's College London and his delegation visited SUSTech
On September 26, 2023, a delegation from King's College London, led by Senior Vice-President Richard Trembath, visited SUSTech. Our President, Xue Qikun, warmly welcomed the visitors. Leaders of relevant departments also participated in the meeting and accompanying activities.
During the visit, Professor Richard Trembath and his delegation engaged in in-depth discussions with SUSTech about cooperation in cultivating high-end medical talents internationally. They listened to presentations about clinical teaching at the First Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech (Shenzhen People's Hospital) and the SUSTech Affiliated Mental Health Center (Shenzhen Kangning Hospital), sharing experiences extensively. The delegation also visited the Second Affiliated Hospital of SUSTech (The Third People's Hospital of Shenzhen) and the CuiZhu Street Community Health Service Center of the Luohu Hospital Group, touring the clinical teaching facilities and learning about the construction of basic practice bases, the system for training general medical practitioners, and the distinctive highlights of medical reform achievements.
President Xue Qikun emphasized that SUSTech places great importance on strengthening cooperation and exchanges with world-class universities, especially in the field of medical talent cultivation. He noted the profound friendship with King's and expressed the hope that both parties will continue to closely communicate and work together with enthusiasm to deepen their collaboration.
Professor Richard Trembath highly praised the international development achievements of SUSTech, expressing his deep impression of the talent cultivation and disciplinary construction at the university and its affiliated teaching hospitals. He pointed out that King's always regards SUSTech as an important partner, having developed profound trust through years of deep cooperation in medical education. The two institutions plan to continue expanding their comprehensive partnership based on existing foundations, providing more top-tier resources for students, teachers, and doctors, and sharing development opportunities through extensive exchange and integration.
It is noted that this visit by the Senior Vice-President of King's was a special trip aimed at further strengthening the in-depth cooperation and exchange between the two universities in the post-pandemic era.
